Karl transforms into a Batman supervillain with incredible makeover

Quick, someone shine the Bat Signal because a DC supervillain has taken over the Today studios.

But just when you though The Penguin had made his escape from Arkham Asylum and hopped a plane from Gotham City to North Sydney, it was in fact, Karl Stefanovic.

Colin Farrell's The Batman spin-off series, The Penguin, landed on Binge yesterday, so the Today host got an incredible - albeit slightly eerie - makeover to celebrate.

During his sit down with Dickie earlier this week, Farrell described the painstaking effort it took to transform into the Batman baddie, sitting in a makeup chair for hours on end each day of filming.

So Karl and the Today makeup team decided to give it a try and the results were uncanny.

Prosthetics were used, as was a lot of bronzer and Karl donned a thinning hair piece to look the part.

And he even got to cruise the streets of North Sydney in a hotted up purple Maserati to get completely into character.
