Brooke Boney returns to Today

She spent five years waking up with Today, but now, Brooke Boney is making her mark away from television screens.
After graduating from Oxford University, Brooke is now on a mission to erase bullying, joining Pilot Pen and Project Rockit for a new initiative called Brave Beginnings.

“Pilot Pen and Project Rockit did this research that found seven out of 10 Aussies won’t try something new because they are scared of failing,” Brooke told Today.
“And a big part of that is childhood bullying, around 90 per cent of people still have memories of things they were impacted by.”
So Brooke is encouraging Aussies to go out and do something they’d normally be afraid to, just like she is.
After graduated from Oxford University with a Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree, Brooke has now signed on to run a full marathon and is enrolled at Sydney University to continue her studies further with a PhD in Philosophy.
“What can I say, I am a glutton for punishment,” she laughed.
Pilot Pen and Project Rockit have set up an impressive installation at Westfield Parramatta, where people can visit and write a message on a large “erase bullying wall” with Pilot’s new ink pens that can be erased.
“So you can write a message on the wall and then erase it and write something else… it is never too late to start again,” Brooke said.
“Basically they want to replace negative messaging with a positive one.
“And that’s how I try to live my life - you can try really hard things and put yourself out there, be scared of failing, but you give it a go anyway.”
