'Sympathy laughs': Alex's 'dad joke' falls flat with co-hosts
A mammoth 276-kilogram tuna has just sold in Japan for a staggering $2.1 million.
But while the fish and its hefty price tag impressed the Today team this morning, host Alex Cullen's daggy "dad joke" inspired by the news story fell a little flat.
It may have been first day back at work jitters, but the regular sport presenter was sure his quoting Arnold Schwarzenegger's iconic Kindergarten Cop line, "It's not a tumour", swapping "tumour" for "tuna", would get some laughs.

"Everyone got it eventually," Alex admitted, after initially hearing crickets.
News presenter, Davina Smith drummed it down to a bit of Mondayitis, however, co-host Ellie Cole was a bit more brutal with her feedback.
"You did only have to say it about five times for us to finally get it," she grinned.
"If you say anything enough I will probably laugh - but it might not be because it was funny, probably more so because I just feel sorry for you."

But while Jayne Azzopardi wouldn't admit if she was also giving Alex a "sympathy laugh", she did resuscitate his ego and assure Alex it was good for a "dad joke".
"It wasn't your first sympathy laugh and it won't be your last," Davina said.
