Body recovered after search for tradie who jumped off bridge for swim
The body of a man has been recovered from Darwin Harbour after an extensive search and rescue operation.
Police were told the man jumped off the Channel Island Bridge into the water for a swim with some friends from work last night.
He began drifting downstream at 9.42pm, just a few minutes after he was seen laughing and swimming in the water.

Emergency services launched a search after the man was unable to make it to the shore.
The search was carried out last night until the early hours of the morning but crews were unable to find the man.
The search resumed today with help from two helicopters, two NT Police vessels, Surf Life Saving, NT Emergency Service volunteers, Crocodile Management and NT Police members on foot along coastlines nearby.
A body was sighted in the water within the vicinity of the East Arm Wharf at about 11.30am.
Police recovered the body and declared the man deceased.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
