Total fire bans in nine SA districts

Total fire bans have been declared across most of South Australia, with the temperature set to climb to 38C in Adelaide.

Extreme fire danger is forecast on Thursday in the northwest pastoral, west coast and eastern Eyre Peninsula districts.

Severe danger is forecast in the lower Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, mid north, Mt Lofty ranges, Yorke Peninsula and lower southeast districts.

A 24-hour total fire ban will apply in those districts from midnight on Wednesday.

The Country Fire Service says people in affected areas should prepare bushfire survival plans.
