Sword-wielding man arrested in Adelaide

A man has been arrested after he walked through Adelaide's CBD carrying a one-metre medieval sword.

The 38-year-old was spotted by police on Bank Street near North Terrace about 11.30am on Sunday.

Police arrested the man and seized the large sword, and officers are now investigating why he had the weapon.

"To carry an offensive weapon you have to have a reasonable cause," a police spokesman said.

The Wynn Vale man was charged with carrying an offensive weapon and breaching his bail.

He is expected to be refused bail to face Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
