SA Police's 22-year search continues

The case of a young South Australian mother is being highlighted 22 years after her disappearance, as part of a campaign to resolve cold cases.

Annabel Strzelecki disappeared from her home in SA's mid-north in June 1988.

Her husband Wlodzimierz Strzelecki was the only person of interest for her disappearance and suspected murder.

The 73-year-old man took his own life two years after his wife's disappearance.

During initial investigations, Mr Strzelecki told police his wife left their home late on June 5 with two friends after a confrontation with him.

SA's branch Detective Sergeant Rebecca Rayner said no evidence supported his claim.

"He later indicated to someone that he had killed her and disposed of her body in the far north of the state," Detective Sergeant Rayner said.

"Unfortunately police did not have sufficient corroboration to charge and convict him.

"Despite an extensive investigation, there is nothing to suggest that anyone else is responsible."

A $200,000 reward will be paid by the SA government, at the discretion of SA Police, to anyone with information which leads to the location of the victim's remains.
