A man charged with manslaughter over a fatal brawl in Adelaide last year will enter a plea in July as the prosecution waits for a toxicology report.

Reece Andrew Watherston appeared in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday in relation to the incident in December which claimed the life of 22-year-old Jack Hanley.

A prosecutor told the court the toxicology report was expected by the end of June.

Watherston was remanded on continuing home detention bail to answer the charge on July 26.

It's alleged the 20-year-old was among a group of five young men who became involved in an altercation with a group of 10 people.

Defence counsel Eugene McGee told the court previously that the early-morning incident in Hindley Street was not one involving an unprovoked attack.
