SA man to answer murder charge in November

A man charged with the murder of his wheelchair-bound wife will enter a plea in November.

Peter Dansie, 67, appeared on Tuesday in Adelaide Magistrates Court accused of killing Helen Dansie, 67, who drowned when she fell into a pond in the Adelaide parklands in April.

Prosecutor Sarah Attar told the court some declarations were still to be provided to the defence but an autopsy report had been finalised.

Dansie was ordered to return to court on November 16 to answer the murder charge.

At an earlier bail hearing, Ms Attar alleged the death of Ms Dansie was a planned and premeditated crime.

She said investigations by police had discounted much of what the dead woman's husband had told emergency services, including she was too heavy for him to turn over in the water and the water was "up to his neck".

Ms Attar said police had re-enacted the incident and found it would have been easy to flip the woman over.

Checks also revealed the pond was only 1.1m deep.

A magistrate initially refused bail but the decision was overturned in the Supreme Court and Dansie was released on strict home detention conditions, including electronic monitoring.
