Generations of South Australians have grown up drinking Bickford's and now the iconic brand is celebrating 150 years.

But despite its focus on embracing the future, the company says it remains steadfast in its commitment to preserving its old-fashioned dedication to quality.

The company's journey began in 1840 when William Bickford, a visionary entrepreneur, established a modest apothecary shop on Hindley Street.

"In those days we were producing 80 bottles a day, hand labelled," marketing manager Chris Illman said.

"Today we are creating 25,000 bottles an hour."

The company churns out about 4 million cases annually from its Salisbury South factory.

Even after changing hands, Bickford's has always remained a South Australia family-owned business. 

To celebrate its 150th anniversary, Bickford's has introduced six new flavours, catering to evolving consumer preferences.
