Safety recall of children's toy after testing finds traces of asbestos in sand

The Reject Shop has recalled a children's play sand after it was found to contain traces of asbestos.

The HTI-branded scented play sand was sold nationally and available in four colours.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) said traces of anthophyllite asbestos and tremolite asbestos were detected in samples after testing.

Customers who purchased the packages of sand that were sold from January 13 until May 7 should keep them out of reach of children and contact The Reject Shop with full proof of purchase for a refund.
