A group of young boys has been arrested after allegedly stealing cars, threatening residents and ramming innocent drivers in a daylight crime spree.

Police alleged the group, aged 12 to 16, committed seven robberies between 6am and 9am in Brisbane's south.

The teens allegedly demanded money and car keys from residents in Robertson in two separate incidents, and carried out a carjacking of a Mercedes-Benz in Tarragindi.

They then allegedly robbed a garage and threatened another homeowner in Carindale before their arrests in Coorparoo.

Resident Gavin Grant said he saw an SUV collide with another car.

That innocent driver - an elderly woman - was treated for shock but wasn't hurt.

Residents were earlier left shaken by the group allegedly casing their homes for unlocked cars.

Witness Ben Cannon said he saw men wearing balaclavas.

"This car had pulled up with the boot open, these guys jumped out with balaclavas and hammers," he said.

In Tarragindi, one driver allegedly narrowly escaped being carjacked.

Neighbours told 9News the driver was a P-plater, a 17-year-old girl who screamed for help before neighbours came out to intervene and scared the group away.

Residents praised each other for their actions but not the government response.

They said they were frustrated by what they described as an escalating levels of youth crime.

Cannon had also helped his neighbour, rugby star Toutai Kefu, as his home was invaded last year, allegedly by a group of teens armed with knives.

"The behaviour I've witnessed personally when we were involved with the incident next door to us was exactly the same," he said.

"The only difference was daylight not dark. They are arrogant and think they are running the show."

Queensland Opposition Leader David Crisafulli said his party would act immediately on youth crime if in government.

"We're going to change the Youth Justice Act and make sure there are consequences and that starts with breach of bail and making sure the rights of the victim comes before the rights of the offender," Crisafulli said.

The government maintains it has a tough stance on juvenile offenders.

The group faces 60 charges and have been denied bail.
