Wife of IS recruit facing passport charges

The Sydney wife of an Islamic State recruit accused of supporting overseas terrorism has had passport charges against her mentioned in a Brisbane court.

Fatima Elomar is charged with four counts of giving false or misleading information for an Australian document.

Elomar, who is married to Islamic State recruit Mohamed Elomar, was stopped at Sydney Airport in May last year when she tried to board an international flight with her children.

Magistrate Tina Privitera adjourned the passport charges against Elomar, who has previously lived in Brisbane, until June 11.

The matter is expected to be transferred to a NSW court.

Elomar is also facing charges of supporting incursions into a foreign state with the intention of engaging in hostile activities.

She will fight the charges set down for a two-week trial in November.

Elomar's husband is fighting with Islamic State and last year posted pictures online of himself holding the severed heads of Syrian government soldiers.
