Trio to fight Australia Day rape charge

Three men accused of raping an unconscious teenager with a glass bottle at an Australian Day party in 2015 will fight the allegation at trial.

Bailey Hayes-Gordon, Jacob Michael Watson and Nicholas William Jackson appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday where they were committed to stand trial in the District Court for the rape of a 19-year-old man.

The court has previously heard the victim only found out about the alleged Brisbane incident after a video of it was uploaded to Facebook.

Outside court, solicitor Adam Magill said the trio were always going to fight the charges "from day one".

"There were attempts to mediate but they were unsuccessful so we find ourself in a trial," Mr Magill said.

All three are on bail.

A fourth man charged with rape over the same matter, Frazer John Eaton, was in June committed to stand trial.

Hayes-Gordon, 20, is also charged with recording in breach of privacy while Watson, 20, is charged with distributing prohibited visual recordings.
