Taxi kills man after Brisbane road fall

A taxi has hit and killed a young Victorian man after he fell while crossing the road in inner city Brisbane.

The man, aged in his 20s, died in Paddington's busy Caxton Street entertainment precinct.

Police say alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the man's death about 8pm on Saturday.

"We do know that he has fallen over and was on the ground when he was hit," Inspector Daniel Bragg has told The Courier-Mail.

"I'm not aware of any alcohol being involved for anyone so far."

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
