Second Qld man charged over live baiting

A taskforce investigating live baiting in Queensland's greyhound racing industry has charged a second person within a week.

A 25-year-old Coominya man has been slapped with six counts of serious animal cruelty.

It comes after trainer Tom Noble was charged with seven counts of the same offence on Tuesday.

The 68-year-old, along with four other Queensland trainers, has already been banned for life in the wake of the scandal.

He's expected to fight the allegations.

The charges followed an expose into the use of live bait, such as piglets and possums, to train competitive greyhounds by ABC's Four Corners program.

A joint Queensland Police Service and RSPCA taskforce is responsible for both arrests in the state so far.

Speaking on behalf of the unit earlier this week, Detective Superintendent Mark Ainsworth said charges were expected to be laid regularly.

The 25-year-old man is expected to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on March 30, with Noble to follow the next day.
