She spent a night lost, cold and disorientated in dense Queensland rainforest but it won't stop a Sydney hiker from continuing her holiday.

The woman, aged in her 50s, went missing after leaving a guest house to explore Lamington National Park in the Gold Coast hinterland about 11am on Tuesday.

An air search involving a helicopter with heat-sensing equipment failed to find any trace of her.

However, she found her own way out of the forest, emerging around 6am on Wednesday morning.

Queensland Police Senior Constable Mark Simpson told ABC Radio she was in good spirits, despite the scare in the chilly conditions, and wanted to continue her holiday in the national park.

"She actually walked back in to O'Reilly's guest house," he said. "She was very vague and didn't know what track she'd been on.
