Queensland zoo handler deliberately teased tiger prior to near-fatal attack

A report has found an Australia Zoo tiger handler deliberately teased the animal before a vicious attack last year.

Charlie the Bengal Tiger was reportedly teased to make for a better show, but David Styles got more than he bargained for when the 120kg beast attacked.

A Workplace Health and Safety report obtained by News Corp found the attack "could have resulted in a fatality".

Styles had dressed in a blue blanket and wore surgical caps on his hands rather than normal khaki.

While footage from the incident shows Styles wearing a GoPro camera on his head, the report said the trainer denied he was deliberately trying to get better footage for a BBC camera crew.

Australia Zoo released a statement saying the incident was old news, but it was "continuing to work towards our passion - tiger conservation".
