E-scooter rider critical after collision with an Uber in Queensland

A young man is in critical condition after he was involved in an e-scooter crash in Queensland.

The rider was on his way to work when he collided with an Uber driver about 5.30am this morning in South Brisbane.

Queensland Police Acting Inspector Simon Mortimer said early investigations indicated the rider was not wearing a helmet.

"It's confronting when someone is injured in a traffic incident like this," he said.

"We would implore people on e-scooters or any type of recreational device or bicycle to be wearing a helmet."

The rider was taken to the Princess Alexandra hospital with critical head injuries.

The Uber driver is assisting with the investigation.
