Queensland hotel and bar owners have less than three weeks until new laws are implemented designed to reduce alcohol-fuelled violence.

Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath has announced shots and pre-mixed drinks with a high alcohol content will be banned from midnight on July 1.

Venues across the state will also be prohibited from selling alcohol of any kind from 2am.

Those located in safe night precincts will have an extension until 3am.

A spokesman for the Attorney-General said evidence from around the world and other parts of Australia showed these sorts of measures helped to reduce alcohol-fuelled violence.
