Qld teacher charged with grooming student

A former high school teacher from the Gold Coast has been charged with sexually assaulting a female student.

The offending is alleged to have occurred over an eight-month period this year, when the 48-year-old man, from Mermaid Beach, was working at the school.

He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on October 13 on seven offences including indecent treatment of a child under 16, grooming a child under 16 and common assault.
