Qld rider killed after hitting parked car

A cyclist is dead and another is fighting for his life after they hit parked cars in separate crashes in Queensland.

A 78-year-old rider died after running into the rear of a parked vehicle in the Hervey Bay suburb of Torquay at 5.20pm on Tuesday.

About five hours later, a cyclist hit a parked car at Miami on the Gold Coast.

He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
