A man has been charged with the stabbing murder of a man he knew in Brisbane.

The victim, 42, suffered "significant" wounds allegedly inflicted by a 29-year-old Loganlea man on Saturday.

He died at the QEII Hospital that night after being driven there by a woman he also knew.

She has made a statement to police but is not facing charges.

"All parties in this incident were known to each other, they were associates," Detective Inspector Mark Thompson told reporters on Monday.

"The motive or why this happened I can't go into ... but we will be alleging the defendant wilfully caused the death of this man by his actions and we will be alleging he did that by himself."

A knife police believe was used during the attack was found in a creek bed behind the scene of the crime, and two cars have been seized.

The 29-year-old is expected to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
