A NSW man accused of kidnapping, torturing and holding a man against his will has been remanded in Queensland.

He was charged with a string of offences including kidnapping for ransom, deprivation of liberty, extortion, fraud, torture and robbery.

Police allege the 31-year-old and another man placed a 41-year-old man in the boot of a car in February 2012.

They allegedly assaulted him and did not let him go until he paid them a sum of money.

About one week later the victim allegedly met up with them again after he was threatened.

Chiha and his 26-year-old accomplice allegedly held the man against his will and tortured him before he escaped.

Chiha was remanded in custody and will face court again on April 24.

His alleged accomplice faced court charged with the same offences in 2012.
