Man hurt while coming to aid of Qld woman

A man has suffered serious head injuries while trying to break up a fight between a man and a woman west of Brisbane.

The 65-year-old stopped his car and tried to help the woman when he saw the young couple involved in a physical fight on a Toowoomba street on Monday afternoon.

It's alleged the younger man pushed the older man, causing him to fall and hit his head on the road.

The victim was taken to the Toowoomba hospital with serious head injuries. The younger man, 22, is facing grievous bodily harm and drug charges.
