Man critical after Gold Coast crash

A man is battling for life after his car careered down an embankment on the Gold Coast hinterland.
The driver, in his 50s, had to be extracted from the vehicle after it left Tamborine Mountain Road and went down the embankment about 6am on Thursday.
He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition and police are investigating the circumstances of the accident, including whether a medical condition could have caused it.
