KEY DATES IN THE GORDON NUTTALL SAGA

Jan 2007 - Former Labor MP Gordon Nuttall charged with 35 counts of receiving corrupt payments from businessman Ken Talbot totalling $300,000.

Dec 2007 - Nuttall charged with corruptly receiving $60,000 from WorkCover Queensland director Harold Shand in April 2002.

July 2009 - Nuttall jailed for seven years for 36 counts of receiving secret commissions from Talbot and Shand.

Dec 2010 - Nuttall sentenced to an extra five years' jail after being found guilty of perjury and receiving about $150,000 in kickbacks from businessman Brendan McKennariey between 1998 and 2006.

June 2011 - The Court of Appeal extends Nuttall's total jail time from 12 to 14 years, so his parole eligibility date is pushed back to July 2015.

July 2015 - Nuttall is released on parole from the low-security Palen Creek Correctional Centre under strict conditions including that he live with his daughter and abstain from alcohol.
