Man buried in sand after falling in hole on Bribie Island dies in hospital
A 23-year-old man who was rushed to hospital after falling into a hole on a beach in a freak accident has died.
Josh Taylor's life support has been switched off, his family confirmed in an emotional statement, calling him the "best son, brother, boyfriend and mate we could all have wished for".
The family, including parents Peter and Belinda, said Taylor "fought as hard as he could and is the most courageous person we will ever know" who would be missed "every minute of every day".

The accident happened on Saturday afternoon on Bribie Island, north of Brisbane.
Taylor fell into a 1.5-metre hole that had been dug to roast a pig.
Family and friends battled to try and get him out with the help of rangers, giving CPR until emergency services arrived.
He was rushed to Brisbane's Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
"Unfortunately, the injuries he received were too severe for him to overcome," the family's statement, released today, said.

The family thanks all those who helped, including staff at the hospital.
"Their expertise and compassion made the hardest five days of our life just a little more easier," they said.
"We will somehow find a way to move on from this terrible tragedy."
A GoFundMe crowdfunding page has raised more than $60,000 for the family.
