Queensland Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk has revealed her heartache at not having children.

She suffered a heartbreaking loss of a baby at age 34 and has struggled to conceive through IVF, the Courier-Mail reports.

"I never really believe people when they say they have no regrets - mine is not being a mother," Ms Palaszczuk told the newspaper.

"I wish with all my heart I had children and I think I would've been a good mum."

In a candid interview, Ms Palaszczuk said she had endometriosis, a condition which can affect fertility, and a doctor once told her the baby she lost at 11 weeks could have been her only chance to have a child.

The Labor leader, now 45, also opened up about her marriages to journalist George Megalogenis and Senator Joe Ludwig's former chief of staff, Simon Every.
