Gold Coast kitesurfer almost crashes into whale

A kitesurfer has filmed the moment he almost crashed into a breaching whale off the Gold Coast.

Payam Sanae, a local cardiac nurse, said he was kitesurfing when he saw whales playing off Miami Beach.

GoPro footage shows the moment his excitement turned to mild panic, as winds buffeted him closer to the whales.

Mr Sanae then hovered close to the whales, filming their tails smashing into the water.
