Man charged after 47-year-old woman killed in alleged domestic violence murder in Townsville
A man has been charged with murder after a woman's body was found inside a unit in north Queensland last month.
The body of a 47-year-old woman with stab wounds to her chest was discovered in a unit on Chandler Street in Garbutt, Townsville on November 4 following a welfare check.
Police began a homicide investigation under the name Operation Whiskey Elmhurst and a 54-year-old man was arrested and charged on December 2.

He was charged with murder (domestic violence) and will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on May 30, 2025.
It's alleged the woman and charged man were known to each other.
The woman's body was found after an unidentified caller phoned for a welfare check, reportedly through a pay phone, Detective Inspector Damien Smith said last month.
It's alleged the woman may have been dead in the unit for five days after being killed on October 30.
