Malik was rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where he remained in a stable condition on Tuesday.
“Ajay will be unable to work for a long time,” friend Aryan Sirohi wrote on an online fundraiser for the family.
“That means a significant loss of income for him and his wife, at the same time as medical and rehabilitation costs begin to add up.
“Ajay is a friend, a family member and a valued part of our community, and no one should face something like this alone.”
Police have seized two dogs and a woman was arrested.
Man found dead two days later
Investigations are ongoing into the death of a 48-year-old man whose body was found on Sunday less than 100 metres away from where Malik was attacked.
The council confirmed the dogs Louis and Ruby had not previously been declared dangerous. Supplied
The initial findings of an autopsy have revealed he also died on Friday and were unable to rule out the animals’ involvement.
Queensland Police on Tuesday said further forensic testing was ongoing and no arrests had been made in relation to the man’s death.
