Former My Kitchen Rules contestant walks free after pleading guilty to child cruelty
A former reality TV contestant has walked free from court after pleading guilty to child cruelty charges in Queensland.
Claudean Bernadette Uamaki-Mu, who appeared on the 2023 season of Channel 7’s My Kitchen Rules, pleaded guilty to two counts of cruelty against children in a plea deal that saw other serious offences dismissed.

Uamaki-Mu, 55, was sentenced to two years imprisonment but was allowed to walk free on immediate parole.
She was accused of multiple counts of rape and sexual assault, however those charges were dropped in a deal made with the prosecution.
The Brisbane District Court heard Uamaki-Mu used physical violence against the complainants “if they didn’t do what they told”.
One victim said they lived in a “constant state of feeling on edge and watching for danger” during a tearful victim impact statement.
“I fear life itself. I’ve learned people are not safe.”
The judge described Uamaki-Mu’s conduct as “discipline that has gone to a different level” during sentencing remarks.
Monday’s sentencing brings to an end several years of proceedings across different levels and jurisdiction of court.
Uamaki-Mu was previously sentenced to a good behaviour bond for common assault
Her husband Anthony Mu, who also appeared on My Kitchen Rules, was found not guilty on historical child abuse charges earlier this year.
