Crisafulli government finalising Olympic venue decision after key report handed down
The Queensland government is finalising its decision on whether to build a new stadium for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics after the final venues report was handed down at the weekend.
The report recommended that the state build Victoria Park as the new Olympic stadium.
That finding was exclusively reported by 9News three weeks ago and, since then, opponents of the plan have been preparing for legal challenges to any new stadium built in the park's green space.

Meanwhile, organisers vying for a potential Albion stadium are finetuning their proposal for an alternate venue.
9News understands that a plan is being actively considered to move the Athletes' Village from Hamilton to Bowen Hills, creating a new precinct next to the Brisbane Showgrounds.
It would be built in a public-private partnership by Lendlease, which was the developer of the Olympic Village in 2012.
Senior figures see a benefit to the village being closer to Victoria Park, which also has better resale options than a village in Northshore Hamilton.
Stakeholders are being consulted about what the plans might mean for them.

Sources have also confirmed that Swimming Australia was consulted yesterday about potentially moving the swimming from the Brisbane Live Arena to a different venue.
It comes as a proposal to move the Brisbane Live Arena to the former Goprint site next to the Gabba, which would allow a new arena to be accessed by the Cross River Rail, is also under consideration.
Tennis Australia was also briefed yesterday about plans to hold the tennis at Tennyson.
The state government is now mulling its final decision on the venue and has a little over two weeks to come up with a plan.
