The body of Commonwealth Games boxing medallist Ben McEachran has been found in central Queensland.

Police say his body was found in Calliope on Friday afternoon and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Mr McEachran, who has a young son, saw his boxing career cut short after a 15-year-old boy struck him in the face with a brick outside a Gladstone pub in 2006.

He had intervened during altercation between the teenager and a security guard when the attack took place.

The former boxer, who won bronze medals at both the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games, had had his sights on the 2008 Beijing Olympics before the incident.
