Man charged as police continue to investigate fatal shooting in Logan, Queensland

A man has been hit with four charges after a fatal shooting in Logan, Queensland, but not with charges related to the death.

Emergency services were called to a park in Beenleigh in Brisbane's south on Tuesday night after reports a man had been shot in the chest.

The 35-year-old Bahrs Scrub man was declared dead at the scene, sparking a manhunt for the alleged killer.

A white Kia Stonic was reported to have left the scene shortly after the shooting; the car was reported stolen during a burglary at a home in Oxenford on November 24.

The car was found driving along Kumbari Avenue at Labrador, and police were able to deflate the tyres with a special device, causing it to stop at around 1.30am yesterday.

The driver, a 22-year-old from Beenleigh, fled on foot into nearby bushland, but was discovered by police hiding underwater.

A search of the area allegedly recovered a firearm, whilst police will argue the man had ammunition on him.

Police have charged him with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of weapon, possessing explosives, and receiving tainted property.

He is scheduled to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

Police say investigations into the death of the 34-year-old man are continuing.
