A man who allegedly threw an axe at a woman police officer before being subdued by a stun gun is set to apply for bail in a Queensland court.

Police say the man tried to attack the officer when she and two colleagues went to a house at Toogoolawah, about 120 kilometres northwest of Brisbane, on Monday night.

The officers were forced to use a Taser gun on the man during his arrest.

The 24-year-old fronted Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with a string of offences including serious assault of police and injuring animals.

He was remanded in custody and will be back before the court on Wednesday for a bail application.

The police officers were not injured during the incident.
