An alleged Alameddine crime figure was the target of a shooting attack in Sydney's west this morning.

Three people, including a 15-year-old, were inside a house on Harris Street in Merrylands when 21 gunshots were fired on the house in the early hours.

Police officers were called to the home about 1.40am today when they received reports of gunshots.

"The message is it's brazen, it's dangerous, it's illegal - and police won't tolerate this behaviour," Inspector Ricki Lidner said.

9News understands rapper Ali Younes - also known as Ay Huncho - was the target, but he wasn't home at the time.

His mother, 22-year-old-sister and 15-year-old brother were inside but were unharmed.

Younes is alleged by police to be a member of the Alameddine crime family.

According to court documents tendered to the Supreme Court, he was also allegedly involved in a kidnapping last year, and asked a court earlier this year to be able to report for his bail over the phone, saying he feared for his safety.

Police are investigating whether Younes was the target of another shooting that occurred in Merrylands just last week.

The gunman from this morning's shooting still hasn't been identified.
