CCTV shows car fleeing after 17 shots fired into Sydney granny flat

A gunman remains on the run after 17 shots were fired at a house and a car was found burnt out nearby in western Sydney overnight.

The home on Faulds Road at Guildford was peppered with bullets just after 2am.

A 26-year-old woman inside the home at the time was uninjured.

Police found several bullets had hit the house, and they believe someone known to the woman may have been the intended target.

CCTV captured a dark SUV driving away from the granny flat after the shooting.

A short time later, a car was discovered on fire at Birmingham Avenue in the nearby suburb of Villawood.

Further footage shows a person sprinting down the street away from the inferno.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the car was destroyed.

Police are investigating whether the two incidents are linked.

"Information at the moment indicates that this person was not the target of the premises," Acting Superintendent Traci Watt said.
