Police launch fresh appeal over mystery body found in suburban lake

Police are launching a new search today over the body of a man found in a lake in north-eastern Melbourne as they appeal for public help.

The corpse was discovered in Blue Lake at Plenty Gorge Park in the suburb of Bundoora on Tuesday, October 15, about 3.40pm.

Detectives believe the man is Asian, aged about 20 to 45, with a height of 172cm. He has black hair and a stocky build.

There is a small scar or mark on his chest, just above his right nipple.

He was wearing a grey Anko hoodie and Anko brown shorts, and black and white New Balance running shoes.

Police have released a composite image of the man, along with images of his clothing, to help with enquiries.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Investigators have made extensive enquiries into identifying the man and will today be launching a further search at Blue Lake with help from the water police.

An information caravan will also be set up in the area.
