Horrifying moment police say driver hit cyclist and drove off

Police are hunting for a driver they say slammed into a cyclist, then fled the scene in Perth's north.

The rider was taken to hospital with severe leg injuries, and the horrifying moment was caught on camera

Security footage shows the moment of impact, before the cyclist is flung through the air and appears to land hard on the ground.

The collision happened just after midday yesterday.

The rider was cycling south along Wanneroo Road in Westminster, and the car turned onto Arkana Road.

But police said instead of stopping to help after the collision, the driver sped away.

The cyclist was left lying on the road with a severely broken leg.

He remains in Royal Perth Hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
