Fans have expressed anger over the refund options offered by an embattled music festival that was forced to halve its line-up.

Pandemonium Rocks festival confirmed this week that six major acts, including two headliners, would no longer play at the festival, which is set to kick off in Melbourne next week.

Blondie and Alice Cooper remain on the line-up, however international bands Placebo and Deep Purple announced they would skip the festival due to the "changing festival format".

However, Blondie will no longer appear at the Brisbane show.

American punk legends Dead Kennedys and Gang Of Four have also been removed, along with local talent Gyroscope and up-and-comer Petch.

Confusion over the festival's line-up was first sparked on March 28, after the festival posted on social media saying a revised line-up would be announced after Easter.

The festival also confirmed it would be changing the gig to a one-stage event.

Under the changes, the Gold Coast show has moved from Doug Jennings Park to Broadwater Parklands, while the Brisbane event will now be held at Eatons Hill, instead of Sandstone Point Hotel.

Organisers have since changed the price for general admission tickets, which now stand at $190, with the only exception of Brisbane, which will move to $165.

Existing full-price general admission ticket holders will be offered the choice of one complimentary ticket per full-price ticket purchased, a partial refund of $70 or a Pandemonium hoodie valued at $100, not available at merchandise stands.

"All patrons, including VIP ticket holders will soon receive updated ticket information via Oztix with the above details and more," organisers said.

However fans have since expressed their frustration over the changes, saying the festival had left ticket holders in "the dark" over the past weeks.

It's not the first controversy that the festival has faced, with the Sydney venue forced to change over concerns it would clash with commemorations on Anzac Day.

The promoters confirmed on February 6 that the event would go ahead at Cathy Freeman Park in the Sydney Olympic Park Precinct.
