Man charged over fatal shooting in NSW

A man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting his partner dead during a domestic incident in the NSW Hunter Valley.

Police were called to a home in Maitland about 3.20 on Friday, where they found the body of a woman, believed to have been aged 57.

A second woman, aged in her 30s, was at the property but was uninjured, police say.

A 60-year-old man was arrested while he was leaving the home and was charged with murder and firearm offences.

He was refused bail to face Maitland Local Court on Friday.
