Woman arrested over infamous cop killer’s movements
A NSW woman has been arrested as detectives continue to investigate the movements of Dezi Freeman, who shot and killed two police officers in Victoria’s high country last year.
Police arrested the 58-year-old woman in the Bairnsdale area in East Gippsland on Friday, and are working to establish how Freeman evaded authorities during his seven months on the run in alpine bushland.

The arrest follows previous statements from police that they were investigating whether the fugitive received help while hiding from the law.
The woman was being interviewed by detectives, and no charges had been laid by Friday night.
Freeman was shot and killed by police at a property in Thologolong in March, ending a massive cross-border manhunt.
Tactical officers had surrounded the 56-year-old inside a shipping container near the NSW border, where he refused repeated demands to surrender during a three-hour stand-off before finally emerging armed with a gun.
Freeman, who declared himself a “sovereign citizen”, had previously been suspected by police to have died in the bush.
His months on the run began immediately after the August 26 ambush on a property in Porepunkah, where officers executing a sexual offences search warrant were fired upon.
The deadly attack claimed the lives of Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson, 59, and Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart, 35, and left a third officer seriously injured.
