Skills Minister John Barilaro is the frontrunner for the NSW Nationals leadership after Troy Grant announced his resignation following the Orange by-election.

So who is the man likely to be NSW's next deputy premier?

- Born in the southern NSW town of Queanbeyan, son to Italian immigrants.

- Has held the seat of Monaro for 11 years, on a tiny margin of two per cent.

- Ran his family's windows and door manufacturing business before politics.
