WestConnex protest planned for Sydney Park

Opponents of the NSW government's WestConnex road project are preparing to stage a protest at Sydney Park to voice their unabating displeasure about the $16.8 billion motorway.

Various politicians and performers are poised to address the crowd on Sunday, after work started on the first WestConnex tunnel in Sydney's inner west last month.

"Sydney's streets will be choked with traffic and pollution. Countless trees, homes and even endangered species will be destroyed. And families in western Sydney will be sold out to toll road companies," WestConnex Action Group spokeswoman Janet Dandy-Ward said ahead of the event.
