Watch and act alert for northern NSW fire

A Watch and Act alert has been issued once more for a bushfire in NSW's northeast.

An alert was issued after 2pm on Monday for an out-of-control fire in Nundle, south of Tamworth, but it was later downgraded to Advice.

However, the alert level has been raised again to Watch and Act.

"Throughout the night, fire activity has increased, with the fire being fanned by strong southeasterly winds," the NSW Rural Fire Service said in a statement just before 10.15pm.

"The fire is burning in a northwesterly direction towards Burrows Creek."

The RFS is advising residents to enact their bushfire survival plan.

A Watch and Act alert was also issued just after 6.30pm for a bushfire in Shannon Vale, northeast of Glen Innes.

However, this was later downgraded to Advice.
