Uni students stop traffic in Sydney

Students have caused traffic disruptions in inner Sydney during a protest against the federal government's proposed university fee deregulation.

Some of the 100 protesters ran across the busy Parramatta Road, holding banners, with NSW police creating a blockade with vehicles on Wednesday afternoon.

"We know that private school kids like (Federal Education Minister) Chris(topher) Pyne are not used to hearing no, but students are committed to saying it again and again," said Rita Hassan, from the National Union of Students.

Protesters chanted "No cuts, no fees, no corporate universities" as they made their way through Victoria Park.
