Two NSW men wanted for posing as policemen

A woman has been assaulted and robbed after her car was pulled over by two men posing as police officers in the NSW Riverina.

A 21-year-old woman with her 20-month-old son was driving in Wagga Wagga on Friday night when a car using red and blue flashing lights pulled her over.

Two men wearing clothing similar to police uniforms asked the woman for her driver's licence before saying they were going to search her car.

When she became suspicious and challenged them, it's alleged they assaulted her and took her purse before driving away.

The woman received minor injuries but her son was not injured.

Investigators have urged anyone with information to come forward, while urging motorists to identify officers from their badge and separate photo identification cards, as well as their arms and other equipment, such as a police radio.
