Marcus Stanford has spent his first night in a NSW jail, accused of aiding his twin brother cover up the alleged murder of Leeton high school teacher Stephanie Scott.

Vincent Stanford, 24, is charged with sexually assaulting and killing Ms Scott in April, days before she was due to marry fiance Aaron Leeson-Woolley in a country wedding near her NSW Riverina thome town.

His brother Marcus was this week charged with being an accessory to Ms Scott's murder after the fact, between April 8 and April 31.

He appeared in Sydney's Central Local Court on Thursday afternoon after being extradited from his home state of South Australia.

The flower farm labourer did not apply for bail or speak during his brief appearance and will remain in custody until his next slated appearance at Wagga Wagga Local Court next week.

Police will allege Vincent sent property belonging to Ms Scott in the mail to his brother in SA after Ms Scott's death.

It will also be alleged Marcus assisted his brother and disposed of the teacher's property by pawning it.

Marcus, who was born in Tasmania but spent most of his childhood in Holland with Vincent, was arrested at his Forreston home on Wednesday morning.

He flew into Sydney on Thursday and was whisked away with detectives in a car waiting on the tarmac.

It is understood Marcus has agreed to be formally interviewed by detectives investigating Ms Scott's death.
